v8? thats overkill. you would need alot(5") of body lift. plus very heavy, hard on frame. dana44 are cool, probably have to relocate your front springs out board. 9" rear is absolutely bombproof in the rear of a zuk. get a wide one so you can have it custom cut to have a offset diff. but these two axles are very heavy compared to the samurais.it will add around 350 lbs, maybe more. toyota axles are very tough and very lite. great design. problem with them is they have centered rears too. to have one cut to offset would require a '94&up tacoma/4runner axle, which is wider than the other truck axles. around 62". could be cut pefectlty to a zuk with a slightly wider stance. the front 79-85 truck axles are almost bolt on, sans the steering.
whatever, dana44, ford 9", toyota, they all are plenty strong. unless your using v8 power, which is kind of uneccessary, then go with all the american running gear. I.M.O.P.

they did try man and I have to give a lot of respect to Zukiguy for tryin to give me one for free! But there will come a time when I can help him the same way! Yah I have a good engine (in fact my dad still thinks I am stupid because he changed the oil in it EVERY 3000 MILES!) its just I want more power and do not want to worry about my reduction or what my engine can pull! I am right now talkin to a guy with a d20 t/case and I may just end up tradin some of the stuff for the junk I am gonna need! the second I get a good engine that I feel comfortable with I will sell my engine and use that money to rebuild it then I will most likely sell/trade my A/C then my tranny and then to my rear axle! I probably wont finish it within the next month but I am in no hurry!!!! But I will keep yall up-dated with it and how it goes! I am just tryin to find out what engine to go with now!!!!

A friend of mine has an Eddie Bauer Bronco II, not sure of the year but I can find out if you're interested. It has a few dents in the body but it's complete and has a title. The motor was professionally rebuilt and has less than 15,000 on the rebuild. I believe $850 would make it yours. If you're interested send me a private message.

I'm going with the new TT big suz-ana(it's got me drooling). Brent told me it would handle my 38's and I'm thinking it will be somewhat lighter than a d44. I don't think you want to do the v8 either although suzuki lighting conversions sells a kit for it, pricy though. I thought about v6 power myself but I'm trying to keep the weight down so I'm going to go with the 1.6 16v and have a custom turbo built. Low weight and I beleive that will give me the zip I'm looking for. Good luck in whatever you decide.
