Friend of mine purchased a 1946 Jeep with a 327 engine. The 4 barrel carb seems to slosh fuel into the manifold during steep climbs and also on severe side angles. The engine dies out and upon restart, heavy black smoke is visible. Obviously, not something we want to live with. Any ideas, besides putting a match to it. My friend is to proud to ask for help, but I'm not.

Any ideas are appreciated, another neighbor with a chevy powered engine converted his to fuel injection. How extensive is this and also how expensive. Thanks in advance for your help.
