New here and have a question

I have recently bought a 96 GMC K1500 Sierra. It currently has a 4.3L engine, but I want to install a 5.0L. Can any one tell me if this can be done without any issues? Will I need to have the computer reprogrammed to accomodate the larger engine? I was told the 5.7 wouldnt work. It also is a 5 speed tranny (Manual)

I think that if you can get an engine from the same year truck you shouldn't have any problems, whether you go with a 305 or a 350. It would probably be best to get a computer to match the engine. I'm not sure if you can even reprogram the 4.3 computer to run a V8.
You should also post up in the GM IFS forum here so that people who know better than me can give you the best answer.
