Just got a new toy

I am usually hanging out on the Jeep Short Wheelbase, but since I got this new toy I'll be hanging here too.

I just had to have a Mog!!!! It's a 404 and need some help please. I think its a Belgian (404.114) ???
Are there any manuals in english to coach me on what is what? For Instance, I found a lever on the floor, I think its a fuel valve? If so, does the fuel guage only work on one tank? (I only see one sender on the rear tank) and then go to the other tank, or do I run 'till the other tank seems low then switch?
Also, are there replacement lenses for red turn and brake signals?
My mog seems like the brakes drag.. Any way to adjust them looser?
That's all for now.. Gotta rest for the next round of questions..
Thanks, Ricky...seeya...

Got some of my questions answered by myself by just playing with the stuff. Here are some pics of my first outing....

Nice, needs some bigger tires though.

Read some of the back posts, I know there are several companies that specialize in Mog and other European 4x4 parts, and they could definately help you answer your questions. Don't hold me on it, but I swear I've heard of a Mog forum or something somewhere as well.

Sorry I can't be of much help, but look around. This forum gets like 5 posts a month, but there are some good, informative posts in it. No one makes a Mog street queen with chromed out shocks, so 99% of the posts are 4x4 and mechanical related.

It would be a good idea to have like an orginal owners manual or a service manual. You can get the two at this site:

For the parts or service for a Mog, you should click on the link and there are like a lot of vendors that sell and service the Mog. The link is here and you should check out the home on that page:

Re: Just got a new toy

and a link for 'parts' - .. he's actually a wholesaler who will sell direct to the public at wholesale prices.(heo supplies the dealerships...so you're cutting out the middleman, if nothing else) . technically, he 'doesnt' do mogs, BUT if you have a MB, or Bosch PART NUMBER, he can almost always get pieces. He's helped me out a number of times doing Mercedes driveline conversions into other vehicles.

[email protected] - just email him asking for price, and availability on whatever you need. He usually replies in 2-3 hours, and can ship amazing fast on most stuff.

have fun withthe new mog

Re: Just got a new toy

I would also suggest joining one of the mog mailing lists. I have gained tons of info about mine from them.

Re: Just got a new toy

Thanks for the info.. I found a set of manuals and parts list on CD. I will hopefully have it soon. Gotta adjust the brakes...
Still learning about my toy though, I did clean the fuel tanks and installed a marine fuel valve. It seems to flow better. I am contemplating some 12.50x20 tires. The Mog list guys, feel that 14.00x20's are too much for my measley engine. I agree after only making it up to 70 kph (brakes still draggy). Thinking of installing some 24v led lights when we make my rear cargo carrier.
Any more help and ideas are appreciated..
Thanks, Ricky...seeya...

Re: Just got a new toy

LOL - nope 404 Mogs are NOT fast. a 'resonable' upgrade is to adapt a later model 250, or 280 sedan engine in there. the SOHC sedan motors use the same basic block arrangement, and bolt right up. instant 30+ HP boost, even from the smaller ones. *** the FI models will not fit, and dual carb models need some work to the floorpan on the passenger side to clear the carbs ( if you were closer, and interested, I'd have a motor for you - the prior swap in my Niva was a 2.8 SOHC making 200+ HP...thatd motivate even 14x20's, I bet 8^D )
