Check engine light

Hi Gang
hoping you can help. My check engine light popped on the other day, the vehicle is a 98 Disco LSE that was just serviced a few months ago.

Can I reset it by disconnecting the battery?

By the way the vehicle is running great, all fluids are good, cleaned the K&N just in case but still on!

Re: Check engine light

I don't look at this board much, but if haven't already found out, you cannot reset the light by unhooking the battery. The Rover coomputer has to be reset wtih a computer or a code reader that has that functionality. I bought software and a cable for $122 and it has saved me a grundle of money. I am still trying to get hang of interpreting the codes, but I would guess my software has saved me close to $100o, since the dealer wants $80 just to plug it in. Just do a search on OBDII software, Google returned all sorts of stuff. Mine came from OBDII.com

Re: Check engine light

I have RAVE CDs, and I can make a copy that looks like an original. E-mail me if you're interested - I don't check this forum much.
