Gonna Get A Kia

As soon as possible, I'm gettin me a Kia. I'll have to wait 'til there are some cheap used ones but as many as I'm seeing on the road, that shouldn't be too long. All this will be trail and error, build your own, work and play. It has great potential and I'm gonna play!!!!! I ain't skeered.

Re: Gonna Get A Kia

Just so you know, Eibach makes a 2" lift for them. I've been thinking about them as a nice little bumping around the trails vehicle for a while now.

Re: Gonna Get A Kia

I purchased a 1998 Kia 4x4, and had NOTHING but problems.
I know of countless others.
Here are just some of the problems I had:
-vacuum hubs do not work.
-wipers not working (some times)
-coolant leaks

Sure they fixed them for FREE (great warranty) but what good is having it in the shop 4 days every month???

new tranny after only 5K.

If you can not get a full size SUV (I spent another 12 K and got a Montaro Sport), of with a RAV4.

Re: Gonna Get A Kia

The RAV4 doesn't even have a transfer case. We rent Kia Sportages (4x4 and 4x2) at Enterprise Rent A Car, and I haven't heard or seen one that had anything other than customer related problems.

Re: Gonna Get A Kia

I have to admitt that $16,000 is a pretty tempting price for a brand new vehicle with a warrantee but what if they file bankruptcy like dawoo just did where does that leave you then.

Re: Gonna Get A Kia

I'm afraid we've strayed from the whole point. Kia's are cheap. Kia's are plentiful. Kia's are small. Kia's have a great hp to weight ratio. The possibilities presented are awesome!! I have an import "giant killer" that was built in 1988 and none of my modifications came from the manufacturer or are even available from them. The nearest dealer for this particular brand vehicle is 200 miles away while there are 4 Kia dealerships within a 30 mile radius of where I am now sitting. Did you know that Daewoo is a massive international conglomerate? They build forklifts for Caterpillar! They build machine tools, earthmovers and medical equipment. They've split up into 3 different companies because they have aquired too much debt, not because of producing inferior products.Go figure.

Re: Gonna Get A Kia

What is a Kia's power to weight ratio? And what's it's peak HP and torque?
