Seeking Information

What kind of fuel mileage does the Sportage get? What's the towing capacity? Does Kia build the engine and drivetrain or are they supplied by another manufacturer? Any "high miles"(150-250k etc.) reports to share?

Re: Seeking Information

My wife drive a Kia sportage I am not sure who makes the drivetrain we have pulled two quads on a trailer before (asking a little much of the four banger) but it produced. She likes it a lot I believe it has 50,000 miles on it. It is the only compact SUV with a true transfer case. Other than that its a pretty good little wheeler, I mean if your not going rock climbing or anything. Clearance is a little on the shy side. Good Luck

Re: Seeking Information

Have u seen the Kia commercial where they challenge a Civic to follow them for 200,000 miles? I drove a Sportage brand new and it had the lowest level of build quality I have ever seen on a vehicle. It was also extrememly rough, i.e. vibrations, etc.

Re: Seeking Information

What the heck is a compact sport utility? That sounds to me like a small 4x4 car... I thought the intention of a sport utility vehicle was to haul stuff, people, or what ever? How would you do that with a compact one? And what do the other ones have if not a transfer case?

Re: Seeking Information

Compact sport utility meaning Kia, RAV4, CRV, etc. They have AWD, no transfer cases (with the exception being Kia), and are usually based on cars. They are basically tall, small station wagons, with AWD if that makes any sense.
