72 Bullnose TH400 Auto w/Floor Shift

Newbie here...I picked up a 72 Commando with the 304 and TH400 and it has a shifter I've never seen before. It's floor mounted but not in a console between the seats like a Hurst. With it being further forward I immediately thought it was a manual when I looked inside.

It does have the Auto shift pattern etched into the shift knob (round like a manual and black) with a lever that's about 18-20" long. I've looked on the web and haven't been able to find anything that resembles it or even mentions it as being an option. It's at the body shop getting repairs done so I can't post a picture yet but I will.

Anybody got a clue?
