engine stand

Hi, about to pull my engine and put it on an engine stand that I borrowed. Just wondering if there is any harm in rotating the engine upside down to do the rear main seal and oil pan gasket?? thanks Mike

Re: engine stand

No harm, but make darn sure that thing doesn't tip over. I would think you are using the usual kind of stand with the 2 legs that are parallel and the upper support on the back, if you are, I repeat, be VERY careful. We had my 258 go over on its side last year right when it was going to go in, broke a few things including a distributor and brand new aluminum valve cover.

Re: engine stand

Be careful! Me and a buddy were working on my 304 two weeks ago; I was flipping the motor and he got his shirt sleeve caught on the handle and almost broke his arm. Once that motor gets to about an 80 degree angle, gravity takes over and doesn't care about fingers or arms.

I know what you're thinking. Did he fire six shots or only five?
