URGENT-Brake Line Help

Over the summer, I put a lift kit on my Jeep and never bothered to get longer brake lines. However, I have failed inspection because of brake lines, so now I have to get new ones. I have a 2.5-inch lift and soon to have revolver shackles. I need break lines long enough for when it is at full flex. This is the catch. I do not want to spend the 100 dollars for the stainless steal lines. Is there anyway I can extend my existing ones or go the junk yard and rob some off a full sized truck or is there someone that sells cheep brake hoses for my needs. This is for an 84 CJ7.

Re: URGENT-Brake Line Help

My front ones are the only ones that failed me. Will my back ones limit my articulation?

Re: URGENT-Brake Line Help

ok.. for the front brake lines.. well.. mmm.. here is a part number to a line.. for the front.. its 33" long.. so it could be alittle long for you.. its a NAPA brand.. and its like 38 bucks for one... here it is.. 38286
another option is.. to go to napa.. and look thru their books.. and find a line suitable for your aplication..
or.. try to find some used stainless lines for sale on the internet..
another option is to move the hardline mount to the bottom of the frame.. but for inspection you might have to weld that tab on to the frame..

Re: URGENT-Brake Line Help

A. Your back ones won't limit your droop....They'll just break. Unless of course your shocks are acting as limiting straps and saving your bacon.
B. You can get a complete set of stainless lines (2 fronts and 1 rear) for $54 from JDsoffroad.com I don't think you can get much cheaper than that.

Re: URGENT-Brake Line Help

I've been down this road, there is nothing else that will work, I spent hours at NAPA trying to find something. The steel lines from 4WDHW are cheap!, only $46.95, how can you go wrong? http://www.4wd.com

Re: URGENT-Brake Line Help

The lines from 4WDHW are for lifts up to 4". The ones they sell are made by a company called Goodridge.

Re: URGENT-Brake Line Help

jeepgod I had the Goodridge ones and they were in the neighborhood of 21-22" long. Stupid me let the tires rub the stainless braiding and I've since replaced them with rubber ones meant for a 1/2 ton Chevy pickup.
