Opinions Wanted

I am getting ready to replace the suspension on my 86 CJ7. I have decided to get a 4" BDS lift kit, new stock height shackles, and a body lift. I have decided against the shackle reversal for now. I am running 33" tires.

My question is how much body lift? How much would you do? I am leaning towards 2".

Re: Opinions Wanted

Personally, I'd do a 1" BL and no more. My opinion... take for what its worth.

Re: Opinions Wanted

I would go this route :
1.Leave stock springs and go SOA .
OR
2. Go with a 2 1/2 " lift and get the 1" Daystar body lift . Thats what I did and I gained almost 4" and I clear 33`s no problem . I can go lock to lock on the steering without rubbing . Mind you I have the 3 1/2 " backspacing on my new wheels which helps a lot in that dept.

Re: Opinions Wanted

What shape is your body in? if it's not in perfect shape or has just had profesional body work done i would just pull out the sawzall. Maybe add TJ flares if you are really worried about looks but 33's should fit fine w/ a 4" lift. With a 2" body lift 35's should fit just fine, don't be afraid of cutting your body it's the best way to fit bigger tires and keep your center of gravity low. 33's can be fit on a stock cj w/ no lift or a 2" body lift just fine if you become friends with your sawzall.

Re: Opinions Wanted

I'd go with just the lift, and trim the fenders if needed.

Re: Opinions Wanted

I guess I'll chime in too, I would say do the lift see where that gets you, add 1" body if neccesary, then trim. Of course if you don't mind trimming, trim instead of the body. I personally don't like the looks of much body lift, I can't say I have ever seen 2 inches, it may look ok but 1 is about all I could stand.

Re: Opinions Wanted

I have a Wrangler 3.5" lift on my CJ with a 1" body lift. I can easily clear 33's without trimming my fenders, but my tires rub my frame at full flex.

My girlfriend said if I spent one more dime on my Jeep she would leave. Man I'm going to miss her!

Re: Opinions Wanted

Thanks for all the advice. Since my main concern is looks, can I get you all to post some pictures and let me know how much lift you have.
