looking for hardtop struts

i've got a 79 cj7 hardtop, and need to get replacement struts. anybody out here have a good source? the hardtop came off a jeep with 39.5's, and SOA, so he had put on shorter struts, so the gate wouldn't lift out of reach.

I think on the CJs they are just springs inside the metal tubes. Sorry, I don't know of a source.

Re: looking for hardtop struts

Try Advanced auto they had gas struts for the wife's cherokee. They had a bunch of sizes for different vehicles so I am sure you could find some the length you need and make them work. I think they are usually located with the wiper blades.
