Axle Questions

If I swapped in a front axle into my 87 YJ, would I have to get a different transfer case as the one I have has all the vacuum stuff on it. I am considering swapping in a pair of 44s out of a 76 scout. Would those axles work? or am I in for a lot of painful knuckles and colorful four letter words.

Re: Axle Questions

If you get a front axle from an 80's wagoneer, you can use you stock transfer case. Also, when you swap a front axle that has lockout hubs, you can disconnect the vacuum lines and plug the source.

Re: Axle Questions

You'll have to swap to a different transfer if you want to use the Scout front axle, as the Scout axle has a passengers drop and you have a driver's drop transfer case, the two aren't compatable.
