What is my Gear ratio??

I have a dana 44 with 42 teath Can anyone tell me wht the ratio is??

I also have a Dana 35(I think Square on sides and round on top and bottom) It also has 42 teath. It has a bunch of numbers on the ring gear, and one of them says 41-11 Is that 4-11 Gears??

Any help would of course be appriciated..

Re: What is my Gear ratio??

My guess on the 41-11 is 41 ring gear teeth and 11 pinion teeth = 3.73:1.

Re: What is my Gear ratio??

Will is right.(3.73) To count the pinion teeth I marked one with grease paint marker and turned the d/shaft and counted. I don't know why you can't see yours?????
Hope this helps,

Re: What is my Gear ratio??

42 teeth on the ring gear isn't very common. You likely mis-counted. Have a look at the table of gear ratios on this site and you will see the only ratio shown with 42 teeth on the ring gear is one for 3.50 reverse rotation.
http://www.drivetrain.com/dana44.html
Just go by the numbers on the ring gear. If your says 41-11 then you have 41 teeth on the ring and 11 on the pinion, 41/11 = 3.727272 or 3.73:1.

The numbers on the ring gear shown in the attached picture are 43-13, 43 teeth and 13 teeth, which is a 3.31:1 ratio.
