what is the best torque wrench

I am about to drop some cash on a good quality torque wrench, actually two(inch lbs and foot lbs). Any suggestions on what brand would be the best, and easiest to get recalibrated.

Re: what is the best torque wrench

I like the snap-on thumb wheel series for ft. lbs. and the torque meters for inch lbs. Ive had my snap-on 1/2 drive now for 15 years, had it checked last year and its still in calibration, However snap-on charges $50.00 to go through it and calibrate if necessary.

Mack also makes an excellent wrench. I would do either Mac or Snap-On.

I've calibrated and used many types of torque wrenches over the years. A simple beam-type will work fine for any automotive use.

Craftsman has that stupid plastic locking ring, I broke 2 before I got smart and bought a Mac.

Re: what is the best torque wrench

What does a snap on or Mac typically sell for? I was in a pawn shop and saw both with no prices on them. I wasn't sure what to offer for either.

I have the craftsman with the plastic lock ring. I haven't broken it yet but it drives me nuts!

Snap On is probably the best. Stay away from Craftsman.
