help to identify ports on tbi

I'm hooking up a tbi onto my 304, and can't seem to find any information on what vacuum port goes where. I'm using a 88 305 tbi with the howell wiring harness. Attached is a drawing of the ports in question. If anybody could label these I would appreciate it.

Re: help to identify ports on tbi

If you don't get it figured out before the first of the week, I'll see if I can get the vacume diagram off the vehicle it came off. Let me know.

Re: help to identify ports on tbi

well I got the info from the GM board. This is what I got.

1: runs to the egr valve solenoid. (don't have one)
2: vaccuum canister (don't have one)
3: pcv (got that)
4: fuel inlet
5: back of right valve cover. for the fumes (don't have that either)
6: fuel tank return to tank

Looks like i'll be plugging 1,2 and 5.

My question is, where the hell do I plug my distributor in??? Also, does anyone know what the hell an "air divert selenoid" is??? The wiring harness from howell has a plug with that label. It also has 2 wires that says "tach" and "starter" i'm using the msd with a tach adapter and the tr upgrade. Not quit sure where they go.

Thanks

Keith

Re: help to identify ports on tbi

The distributor goes to the same port as the EGR valve (ported vacuum).

Re: help to identify ports on tbi

Well Leve, now you've got me confused. I thought there were only 3 ports in the front of the tbi. 2 smaller ones with hoses already attached and then the larger one in the middle which would be for the pcv. I'll have to look tomorrow during the daylight. Also, would there be a problem with me putting the oxygen sensor in the collector of the passenger side header??? The reason I ask, is that the drivers side collector is right under my clutch linkage, and it wouldn't fit.

Re: help to identify ports on tbi

Keith, I can't help too much with the confulsion...the diagram is straight from the Howell Intstall manual.

As to the O2 sensor, right or left bank should not make much difference. Just make sure the area you install the O2 sensor is a hot area (unless the sensor is a 4 wire heated sensor).
