CB Instructions

For my B-Day (Back in Oct.) my sister gave me a hand-held CB (Out of her Jeep). It's kina a loan thing.. Until she gets it lifted (she sold her wrangler (stock 31's, and got a Cherokee stock.) she said I could have it, then next year when it's her B-Day and I have a mounted CB she told me I could give it back to her.

Anyways... enough of that.
I was just wondering if anyone knew a good site/sites, or had any info on using a CB.
I've read quite abit about how it works and stuff. and I've used walkie talkies a tiny bit. but stuff like the "Squalk" knob needs a wee bit more clarity.

Also, a page with lingo, or protocols would be nice.
I'd hate to be stuck someplace, think "Oh, I'll get some help." and then get chewed out by a bunch of red-neck truckers because I'm on the wrong channel, or butting into someone's convo.

Re: CB Instructions

DONT talk on channel 9 , it`s for emergencies only .
Stay off of channels 35 thru 40 . They are for SSB use .
Usually channel 19 is a call channel used for truckers and stuff . Around our area , channel 21 is also a call channel .
What else do you need to know ?
NOTE I`ve now been sitting here for at least 3 minutes waiting for this [email protected] thing to load !!!

Re: CB Instructions

Emergencies being..

"I'm stuck."
"I've crashed."
"I broke my leg."
"I'm having a heart attack."
"I'm se-sawing on a cliff."
"I ran into a ditch."

When I want to get into a convo, or need someone to winch me out what do I have to say?

Re: CB Instructions

no big science here. don't expect too much cause you ain't gonna get much! the range $ucks. protocol? no-one's gonna here you cept your close-by buds anyway. cb's are just handy if the group you are running with has them. my club all has them and we shoot the $hit all day. it's handy to rap so you don't have to stop all the time to make plans or say which way to turn at an intersection etc. truckers? we don't use them on the pvmt- only on the trail. 10-4? comprende? roger(received orders given, executing request), wil-co(will comply)....................

Re: CB Instructions

Inferno, try this. It has some info you should find useful about the CB itself.

Also try this one out about channel usage.
