Got my jeep today : (

hi all
i just need to blow off steam.......

today i vent to pickup my new used jeep.
i is a 81 CJ7 304 auto, that the police impounded
because of a tax problem.
i paid the guys dets and drove off to pick it up.
when i came down there it was standing on its belly.
some one had stolen the Wheels !!!
i had been waiting for this moment for weeks, looking forward getting it home, and then this...

i had been down there friday last week to chek that it was OK before i paid for it but somone wanted to make my Big day to a day of fustration.

what could i do now ?? i called a friend of the 4X4 club
i am in to hear if he had some wheels i could get the jeep home on, luckily he did.

tomorrow i am going to chek it out for real and see what i shall do with it, it is only a trail rig.

if any one has some good ideas for things to chek.this jeep has been standing for 6 months...
it starts but only with jumper cabels.

i am sorry about my spelling but i live in denmark..

with jeep greetings

kasper

Re: Got my jeep today : (

your spelling is fine- i know some americans that can't spell that well! bummer on the jeep wheels. sounds like it needs a battery? yeah get it home and start in giving it a thorough once over. tell us more about it and some pics? wouldn't hurt to drain all fluids and replace ie diff's, tranny, transcase, rad and engine. check the spark plugs and replace if bad. check the compression of cylinders. fuel filter, air filter. check timing. is this enough for the weekend? so when are you going to have the CJ up and running and bring it over to the states and wheel in our ROCKS?

Kasper,
WELCOME !! Your american is far better than my danish. I can't add to the good advice you've already gotten. Lots of grease and oil often, annual brake fluid and radiator flush - works for me.
I have a question though. What is a Toyota Landcruiser VX80?

Hey that sucks, also make sure the drums and rotars didn't get messed from it sitting on it's belly. Also i'd pull your drums and rotars off and check them out. Your english is probably better than mine. How easy are jeep parts to get over there?

Re: Got my jeep today : (

hi thanks for all your replys i might take you up on going on the trail with you.
one of my fellow club members has already done that, and is now building a M38 a1 with a mercedes 300 HP V8!!! so he can keep up with you..
regarding spareparts: some parts are fairly easy to get hold of but the prices not so fair, so i might have to order in the US and get it shipped home.
you will get pics soon..

thanks for the friendly welcome!!!!!
