A couple of questions here.....

How much of the wire harness from the donor vehicle do I need? Everything that is attached to the computer???

How do you know the difference between the computers stick/auto??? Any numbers on them?

Where do I get the CPS from??? Can I just take it off the tranny or should I just buy the relocation kit from Hesco if it exists.

Please let me know if you know any good conversion sites...

PS. I picked up a K&N FIPK intake for $20.00 with filter!

Here are some sites:

Have you searched the archives? Your questions have been answered probably many times. Look for '4.0 swap', etc. The above sites probably provide answers also.

I was never able to find much info on wiring. I copted out by having my harness built for me by Custom Jeep out of Dallas. Big $$$.

I took all of my parts from one salvaged vehicle including the 4.0 and the transmission.

Later, Ken

83 CJ8, 4.0 HO/AW4, etc.

What year is the donor engine? The requirements for newer engines (97 and up) will vary somewhat from those for older engines.

You'll need all of the wiring harness attached to the computer plus some wires from your old harness in order to complete the tie-in.

There should be some stock numbers on the computer that a dealer can decode for you.

What kind of tranny do you have? If you have an AX-15, you can just get a CPS made for the 4.0 engine and bolt it right into the bellhousing. If you have an earlier tranny, you can get the Hesco kit (my recommendation) or go with a new bellhousing from Advance Adapters.

You should carefully read through all of those sites listed in an earlier post - they'll answer most of your questions. But just be aware that they all deal with pre-97 engines. If you get a newer engine it'll be a little different.
