Motorcraft 2100 stuff

This is all related to street driving. It did great off road today awesome carb off road for a 258. makes the jeep feal damn reliable on hill climbs. didnt use much gas either.

When the jeep is warmed up it drives decent, doesnt stall at all if you slam the pedal down hard. When it hasnt been driven enough it likes to lag when you give it gas. I assume this is the power valve. But closing the choke plate most of the way it doesnt stall or lag even when cold.

Also the jeep is dangerously slow for initial acelleration, 0-10. And stalls sometimes. Even after getting the motor very warm. Is that likely just a ajustment problem? Reved high up it barely does anything just like the clutch is dying, but its brand new and didnt do it with the bbd and does fine once it gets past 5mph.

Yesterday it was cutting out between first and second gear but new bolts and nuts on the adaptor cured that.

forgot to mention the revs drop almost instantly as you drop the clutch to take off.

Re: Motorcraft 2100 stuff

Just wondering where you picked up your 2100 from? I'm sick of the Carter.

Local junkyard. Off a 72 or 76 wagoneer with a v8.

Re: Motorcraft 2100 stuff

I also did this great upgrade about 5 months ago and have a few questions for you. IT does something real funny that the carter didn't do and I was wondering if it does the same for you. I have noticed that , after it has warmed up, that the engine lags when you try to start it again. I turn the key off and if you wait about five minuits and start it it will idle two to three hundred rpms lower that the set idle, then after about a miniut it steadies off. It's almost like there is fuel leaking back into the intake which is impossible on this carb unless its cracked, which it isn't. Oh, how do like how the carb performs at a cold start, I still cant get the damned thing to idle more than five hundred rpms and that is with a manual choke and no vacuum leaks that I can find.

Re: Motorcraft 2100 stuff

What was the donor vehicle for your carb? These carbs seem to be on all kinds of vehicles. I want to do this upgrade, but I need to be sure to get the right one the first time (parts house has a restocking fee) Is the one of a 76 - 78 jeep with a 304 right, or, I have also heard that a 69 ford falcon with a 302 is correct. I am wanting to put it on my offenhauser 4 barrel intake with a 2 barrel reducer. Thanks

My girlfriend said if I spent one more dime on my Jeep she would leave. Man I'm going to miss her!
