35X12.5 BFG MT HOW LONG WILL MT D27 LAST?

someone mad me a offer i can not refuse 5 bfg mt 35x12.5 look new, $600. not the swampers i wanted (34X9.5) but bigger is better. and cheeper. now how long will my d27 last up front & my 44 in rear will it hold up? i am kind of easy on the go peddle, so i think they will be ok. i do have a lock-right in the 27 and a no-slip in the 44 w/ 4.88:1 each end. any thoughts?

If it were me trying to get a dana 27 to last, the first thing I would do is replace the spindle bolts with studs from the backside. When I get out of school and can start restoring my M38A1, I'm planning on doing that to it's dana 25. You will have to do a little grinding on the inside of the knuckle and grind a flat on the studs but one of the weaknesses is the spindle bolts working their way out. I think if you are easy on the gas and don't impact load the shafts they'll last a while under the light early cj.

One other thing: Do you have u-joints at the knuckle or that funny looking joint?

If you are easy on the pedal you might not have any problems. Those tires are a bit heavier, i believe, than the 34/9.50. I have been thinking about my D27 lately, about putting a locker in the front. It might not bust the driveshaft u-joints, but i think the axle ujoints might bust. I have seen many people run those tires with the D27 and lasted fine, but the locker up front grabbing might put it over the edge.
