Need 401 timing cover

My rebuilt 401 has very low oil pressure when warm. I am going to try a new timing cover and high volume oil pump. Where do you buy these items. Any suggestions?
Thanks
Merlin

Re: Need 401 timing cover

I've got a couple of the covers at the shop new in the box. Ozk, I never have heard that 4WP had those. Anyhow I've got 'em if you need one.

4wheel drive hardware, sorry for the confusion!

part#8129373
amc V8 timing cover $239

page H41 of the fall2001 catalog.

Ive got acouple of used ones, but I would hate to even speculate on what kind of pressure they would yeild, they both came from running engines, but Id go new if it were me!

Re: Need 401 timing cover

Thanks for the info. I am definitly going new. JpShp - are the ones you have factory or aftermarket? E Mail me a price, please. If both yours and the ones at 4Wheel Drive Hardware are aftermarket I guess the price is the factor. Anyone with a high volume oil pump?
Thanks,
Merlin

Re: Need 401 timing cover

the best way to get the oil pump pumped is to get the clearances right, ive heard of folks using brown paper bag material as gasket between cover and oil pump cover to get the proper end clearance on the gears.

also its possible to use anopther spring, or stretch the spring thats in the relief valve to get a higher bypass pressure.

look at froadin.com hammer's site should have this info, if not check out the amxfiles site, plenty of old amc car buffs who make the engines do amazing things.

Done deal - thanks JpShp - OzarkJeep - I found "Prince George" products through your suggestion. New high pressure relief spring kit for about $13.00.
