Disco-Rock lights?

I've been kicking around an idea for rock lighting. I'll probably take some heat for it, but hey it's all about function. If guys out on Fordyce can get away with a disco ball, I can probably get by with at least broaching this:

I noticed at a marine supply house the other day a set of the flexible rope light for 12V applications. It was all-weather, marine rated, and had lights about every 3-6" over the 15' length. The housing was a thick gel coating, which seemed like it would make good protection.

I'm thinking about running this stuf from bumper to bumper along the top/outside of the frame-rails. Anybody have any experience or (constructive) comments on this?

:-)

I dunno, you could run it up the flag pole over at JU, and see how they respond to it. If it gets good acceptance, then dont do it.

Re: Disco-Rock lights?

Aw DAMN!!! That was unnecessary roughness there H8! It's not like these things are neon tubes or anything...

But I was thinking about heading over to POR and asking there. I figured if I got them in "labia pink" it might garner me some style points. Besides at $20, for some of the best trash talking on a night run how could you go wrong?

My only fear is that they might work well and I'd want to keep them.

Seriously though, for those who have given up on JU, the CJ forum ain't bad (not as many simpering idiots). It ain't SWB, and it SURE ain't POR, but I think there's a time and place for just about all the boards.

Well if you have your heart set on it, then use Haloween as an excuse to do it, and see how it is excepted. Waht do you think about a fog machine? I could use the inverter to run it.

I think fog is just the ticket. But for the true cheese-factor, you would have to have the orange pumpkin lights, and covers for your lights in the likenesses of jack-o-lanterns.

Sounds like just the thing, fog machine and all for the Fright Nite run up Millers Jeep trail!

Re: Disco-Rock lights?

A tow truck guy who pulled us out one time was using track lights.
He claimed they were 12-13V and just needed some wiring skillz.

Actually that may prove a good use for that stuff. I have a few hundred feet as accent lighting built into the concrete border in my back yard. It throws a soft light that won't ruin your night vision.
