Wagon Motor mounts work in a YJ?

I haven't got the tape out yet but I have been told by numerous people that the wagon axles won't require inboard or outboard perches to SOA. I am thinking that means the frames are relatively the same width. Meaning I should be able to use the stock wagon engine mounts am I right or wrong?

Good question. I would like to know this also. It's crossed my mind before but I've never asked.

Re: Wagon Motor mounts work in a YJ?

Taking the measurement off the conversion articles of GW axles to YJ. There is a 1/2" per side(1" total) difference in spring pad mounts on GW's than YJ's. The springs are mounted under the frame, so therefore I would say that the GW AMC V8 motor mounts are 1" wider(total) than the YJ mounts. Torch them off and cut them down, weld 'em in, and measure then. I can't think of a reason why it wouldn't work. I'm not that smart though.

Re: Wagon Motor mounts work in a YJ?

you could use them.. but you will have to cut some out of them.. in the bottom center.. like a triangle.. and then bend them.. and reweld them..
i used one v8 mount from a jeep.. and one 4 cyl. engine mount from a cj... for my 401 in the yj frame... and i still had to cut one side down... and bend it... not so much for the width.. but for the correct angle for the engine mount..

You can use them as Jeepgod stated, we often do a similar trick or two when installing them. As to the perches YJason is correct they are off just enough to piss you off. Note this pic and you can see the slight angle when you do not compensate for the offset.
