Well for the past two months or so my clutch pedal has been a little soft but about two days ago it really went south. It would go almost to the floor before engaging the clutch. Then the inevitable happened and I lost all clutch. Of course I hope out and sure enough the resevoir is empty!! SO I run back to the house and get some fluid and fill it up and works great. By the next morning it was half empty again. Filled it again and now it is still losing fluid but not as fast. Fluid is leaking inside the bellhousing but i can't tell from where inside without dropping the tranny and such. SO is there any ideas on what it is or anything before i start ripping the drivetrain apart to hunt it down??? Thanks guys.

you got internal slave in the bellhouse? it be leakin in there. yep gonna have ta pull tranny/transcase and do a clutch job. slave/throwout bearing leaking i would guess. gotta be. may as well do entire clutch kit while in there. disc,pressure plate,flywheel/ring gear,pilot bearing and slave. yeah not many places to leak besides at the master or the line going to the slave.

If you're referring to your 86 CJ, i believe they were hydraulic slave cylinders, and that means that either the master cylinder, line, orslave cylinder is leaking. Find out exactly where the leak is before trying to fix it...you may be able to get away doing something minimal, like jus switching the line! Good luck!

You should have an external salce off the throwout fork near the bellhousing. Just look around and find the fluid that's leaking out. Most of the time with those setups it's the line that has a small crack in it causing the leak.

yea mine is leaking at the line just check to see if it is rotted where it is clamped to the tub..
