\'75 CJ-5 V8 swap

anyone have any suggestions on a good V8 motor to stuff into my cj? (ford, chevy, amc whatever is good and not horribly expensive)
*I would also like to retain the stock trans, at least untill it blows up (T-15)*

Re: \'75 CJ-5 V8 swap

You already have the right idea with the AMC 360 if you want to maintain the stock tranny. Lots of good right ups on here about the 360 swap. Do a search and you will find hours of reading.

To bad your not closer to IL. There are a ton of waggies and J-trucks with AMC V-8's in most of the boneyards I frequent. If you want I can give you some locations.

Keep it Jeep, do the 360 and you'll need no adapters, do your homework and you can save alot of money with patience.

Re: \'75 CJ-5 V8 swap

Figured I may as well say exactly what everone else is saying while I'm here I have a AMC 360 in my '76 CJ5 that has worked beautifully. More than enough power and torque for anything I care to do with it and leaves plenty of space in the engine compartment for my ham-fisted twiddling.

I'll jump on that bandwagon, stay AMC, best banfg for the buck, easiesst, and it's a real jeep motor!
