What to ask $$$ for My 1985 CJ7

if i cant get the thing working, i may sell it and get a newer YJ or XJ possibly.

just out of curiousity, what would be a fair asking price for my Jeep eqipped as follows:
------------------
-1985 Jeep CJ7 105K miles
-body, some rust (i'd give it a 6 out of 10)
-New TBI kit installed
-new Diamond plate on sides and corners
-Hard top, andd soft top, and bikini top
-Westside Perf. Valve cover
-JKS Heavy duty steering rods (not installed)
-Rancho Steering Stab. (for use with steering rods above, not installed)
-31" BFG AT (50% tread)
-hard doors, passenger door does not open from outside and window doesnt roll down, driver door good)
-clutch holds
-T-5 tranny
-dana 300 t-case
-folding rear seat
-new solenoid
-new starter
-new ignition switch
-axles etc stock
-also has 1.5" Shackle lift installed

needs brake pads and shoes
and need to have wiring problem fixed so it can start w/o being pushed
------------

thanks for your input guys!

I'd say it is worth 2,900 or so
It would be worth quite a bit more if you get the brakes and the wiring problem fixed.

its worth $50. Email me with your address and i will be by promptly to free you from it. (smile)

Seriously...depending on where you are...i'd guess anywhere from $1000-$3000....but then again, its worth whatver someone is willing to pay for it. Theres a sucker born every minute....find one of them and get $10,000 for it!

good luck,
mike

I'd say 2,000-2,500 for an asking price.

Re: What to ask $$$ for My 1985 CJ7

Jeepngreg -

You'll take a big hit on the price because of the wiring problem. I recently sold a similar sounding jeep in New Hampshire for $3,700. Was an 85 with ~70k miles, Howell TBI, 4" Superlift, 33" TSL, T5/D300, Narrow Track D44/D30, 3.73 gears and Detroit EZ-Lockers, rear disc's, full cage. Body was a little rough on the rockers and corners..

You invested some $$ into this already. You've got to make a choice: more $$ and get the wiring resolved (if you can't figure it out) or sell it and take the hit on what you've invested (always do on this kind of rig when you sell...) and start over.

Have you used the schematic and traced through the starting circuit with a test light? Any possibility that the ignition switch on the column (its up under the dash) has a dead spot in the starting position?

Good luck - Jim

rkcrawl

its a brand new ignition switch from napa. so it shouldnt be dead.....i traced the wiring in the eng. compartment and it was OK, i dont have the wiring diagram for under that dash, but thats my next step....and it that fails...i'll jimmy-rig it
