wheelin to chivo falls tucson

well i caught a few pics of 13 jeeps to the falls sunday. none of my rig on this first roll. wife said she got me going up a few obstacles on next roll. trail was rated 3.5 and was fun. some stockers got hung up on rocks a few times so we broke out the high lift. hope you enjoy!

Man, more Tucson memories. Did you take the Italian Trap trail? Do you still go thru the crack right off Redington Rd. We used to spend a lot of time out there in the foothills of the Rincons wheeling and camping. There is some more good wheeling if you keep on going out Reddington Rd., end up over in Cascabel and you can go to the Muleshoe Ranch and take the road that cherrystems its way into the Galiuro Wilderness to Jackson Cabin. Its been many years, but that area was fun.

italian trap trail? what? the crack? what? damn dude you should have been there! we had a good leader- dave peterson of tucson rough riders. he pointed out some options that we didn't take but can another time. this was my first time to chivo falls. we started at the "corrals" and there was a "crack" we had to straddle which larry in a rather stock GC slipped down into and we had to jack him out. we stopped at some huge cottonwood trees for lunch and then on into the falls. we went back the same way although dave said we could have gone out another way he called the reddington loop. i still have to get the topo on the area.

Yeah, thats the crack I was talking about. Back in the early 80s before anyone was running lockers and tires were usually 31s that mother was a mean obstacle. The other way would have been the Italian Trap/Ranch trail, it picks up further on down Reddington Rd. It was a real challeng 20 years ago with open front, lsd read and 31s! Keep the Tucson area stuff coming, brings back good memories. BTW, my folks live in Tucson, live out in the Tucson Mtns. off Ironwood Hills Rd., we get there once in a while, I'll have to convince Aley to have us take the Jeep next time and we can wheel with you, maybe show you some of the places we used to go if they aren't closed now.

you be thinkin now! bring the jeep and we go wheelin! yeah i live off of cortaro road east of I-10 couple miles, up camino de oeste. like you said if they aren't closed now. PROGRESS! you just have to go a little farther from town is all. florence area- box cyn, martinez cyn, coke ovens etc is really wide open and only 1.5 hrs away. chivo and charouleau are the local favorites and offer some challenging obstacles for sure.

Gawd, its been many years since Ive been to the Tucson area.
I grew up(if you can call my aging process growing up), out off of Kolb Rd out by the bridge crossing at Pantano Wash, before the bridge went in (in my oldest gruffiest voice), "back in 74", the road used to wash out every year. We road horses and motorcycles through all of those areas back then. I was in the 2nd class to graduate from the, then brand new Santa Rita High School(Go Eagles!).
My dad still owns a bunch of property out there, I would love to get out there and wheel sometime.

argh, argh, argh(my gruffiest 47 yr growl)
kolb and pantano- ah yes. i surveyed kolb going south to the interstate including two bridges over rr tracks and I-10 back in 80 something. santa rita high is boomin. what's dad going to do with the property? yeah tucson is growing like everywhere you go. always a changin'. we could set up enough runs around here to get everybody on the BBS ROCKED for DAZES!
