351w clutch questions

I am planning on putting a 351w in my 85 cj, and a t-18. I was wondering what kind of clutch setup you guys are running with it? What is the easiest? What is the best? Do you have any other pointers for my swap... What size flywheel do you run? Will either the 157 or 164 tooth flywheel work with the t-18? Do they make a bellhousing to fit the 157 tooth flywheel with the t-18? If so what did it come off of?

Re: 351w clutch questions

when you go get a t-18 get the flywheel and bellhousing that is with it. i used to have a 351w in my jeep and i have a bell housing and flywheel still and even a good clutch. where are you located?

Re: 351w clutch questions

I already have the t-18 so I have to make a trip to the junk yard to find a flywheel and bellhousing. What size of flywheel did you end up using and what type of clutch did you use?

Re: 351w clutch questions

One more thing how do you like the 351 in the jeep? Is it to much power?

Re: 351w clutch questions

heck no it didn't have "too" nuch power. it did have alot but i liked it. well it did with the carb but once i swapped the efi onto it it never ran quite right. that is why i pulled it out and sold it. i was going to look for an ho 302 but i found a 99 vortec 350 with the 4L80E auto behind it that i have swapped in it's place. as for the clutch i ran a standard 11" clutch for it and itr worked fine and never caused me any problems. i will suguest using some sort of hydraulic slave cylinder to actuate the clutch. i had one of those advance adapter chain linkages and it sucked! it caused me lots of prob's because when i used the jeep hard it would move the bracket sometimes and then i'd have no clutch.
