ducmon900, try the multiport is nice and has more power but the tbi's are cheaper and easier to work on. he seemed concered about $$$ and that isd why i sugguested that. the tbi is a very reliable unit and would be a worth while swap in my opinion.

Yea brian tbi's would be cheaper. And I know how it is when it comes to budget building. And you would still have fuel injection and parts would be more common and plentiful and of course cheaper.

Re: Yeah!!I got a jeep today!!!!

I talked to peanut from the board..and he said he would help me attempt to get fuel injection on it.
I'd swap t-cases to the 208..but I don't want to have to change my driveshaft length or anything.
I drove it earlier..kinda scary cause not only does it have soa..but it also has a 2 inch body lift.
The jeep has lockout hubs on the front..so does that mean it isn't fulltime?
Man it is LOUD!!It has dual glasspacks..you can't hear the radio at all!
Thanks everyone for your suggestions..
I'll try and buy some batteries tomorrow so I can take some pictures!

Re: Yeah!!I got a jeep today!!!!

heck i have a springover with rear cj 7leaf hd springs from jcw, 3" body, and 38.5 swampers. it couldn't be that scary. you might scrap the body lift if you can/want to.

Re: Yeah!!I got a jeep today!!!!

I have a friend that has a chevy 305/th350/np203 in his jeep and it works well for him. His had been converted to part-time when he bought it but he changed it back to full-time and likes it better. I helped him changed the chain in his transfer case because it was slipping. Be sure to get a transmission jack to remove it and someone to help you move it, it weighs over 200 lbs. The two of us could barely lift it to put it on the jack when we finished and that was without oil. Once you get it out, the chain is pretty easy to change.

From my experience with the 203 and quadratracs, I feel it is better to convert it to part-time when used in a full size pickup, but in a Jeep, it is better to have it full-time. It gives a lot of stability to the short wheelbase.

Re: Yeah!!I got a jeep today!!!!

The 203 is a strong unit, it's cast irn, unlike the aluminum of the 208, and while the low range is lacking, it's built a lot stronger so there's less to worry about.

Just because it has lockout hubs doesn't mean it has the part time kit installed.

The 203 has one other benefit, for about $800-$1,000 you can throw an NP205 behind it and run dual transfers. I think you may have to lengthen the wheelbase though, not sure.

Will is right though, it is a HEAVY case, heavier than the NP205 even. They were the transfer used behind most of the autos from '68-'80.
