Gas tank Sucking Air

I just upgraded my CJ8 from the 258 to a 360. I ran all new gas lines, 5/16 hard line to the pump and 1/4 hard line return back to the tank. Instead of the charcoal canister connected to the tank i have plugged one hole in the tank and the other i connected to a K&N air filter. The motor runs good, a tad rich, but you can hear a loud sucking sound coming from the gas tank. Whats going on????????

Re: Gas tank Sucking Air

i would try unplugging the other opening and see if that helps. it sounds like you are creating a vacuum in the tank, as the draw of the fuel, is more than the one line can handle.

Ha Ha Ha Ha! That's the sound of money being sucked out of your wallet to keep that sucker fed. Literally!

Actually, I've got my lines run the same way, but no sucking sound. Perhaps run an additional line off the plugged hole and put a K&N filter on it also.

Who needs a road...if there's a perfectly good JEEP trail somewhere else!?
