HOW much for an ADAPTER!
Looking for a new tranny, called a guy today with a th350 rebuilt out of a late 80's blazer. I have a chevy motor so I don't have to have an adapter theier, called AA about one for the dana 300 and the very nice gentlemen said "that will be $498.89" HOLY CRAP! I asked are you sure and he said "Oh yes sir, these adapters are very difficult to make an required a very skilled and experienced person to produce." COME ON, you can't tell me that somewhere out there someone isn't producing these and a better cost and with the same workmanship that these guys are!
Sorry, I needed to vent a little, I know I'll have to shell out the money but I don't have to like it. 83 CJ-7/chevy 350/44-20 with lockers/4"lift/33x12.5 swampers on hellcats/9500 ramsey. I'm in LOVE! |
Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
Sounds like when I called chrysler.
"Could you tell me how much a hard-top is for a '89YJ?" "Around $3000 CDN." "Holy S&^t." "Exuse me sir." "Oh, ya, sorry, I just choked on my tounge, how about a second hand one." "We don't deal in second hand goods." "Well, what about the doors, are they included?" "No. There $4500 CDN extra." *DialTone* http://donkeyface.virtualave.net/icon.gif Jeep Icon, Raised 2", Lowered 2", 4pt Independant Suspention. (Yes, that is an Oompa Loompa driving it.) |
Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
Novak Adapters are a little less expensive but check the adapter length at each company. I use a novak in a sm465/dana300 combo, very happy with it, only 3.1" long and I had them custom drill the tcase side to clock the tcase up to 5 degrees less then level, with no extra change.
Does the t350 trans from the Blazer have a tcase on it ? You could maybe use it(?). Wayne @ Big Island RockCrawlers "PYRO" The Rock Crawler Web Site: http://www.members.tripod.com/surfmac/Index.html |
Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
get out a magazine and start calling 4x4 shops. vendors usully sell them cheaper than the manufacturer. i go mine from central for over $50 less than if i had gone through advance adpaters and it is an advance adapters adapter too.

Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
Sounds like the same deal I got with them. J.B. conv. had the nv4500 package for $2300. So I called AA to find out their price. $2900 for the same package, and when I told them J.B.'s price they said there was no way they could beat their price. So I ordered one from Tellico 4x4 who goes through J.B. for $2300. When it came, everything was sent to me from AA. Go figure?

Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
Difinately call around. I saved $125.00 on an np435 to np231 adaptor kit by doing it.

Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
I got my adapter from "No Excuses" in New Jersy. They saved me $100 over AA for the same adaper.

Re: HOW much for an ADAPTER!
no excused is definetly one of the cheapest around but even that was kinda expensive so I hit the classifieds. Ended up buying an aa turbo400/dana 20 for a 100.
