Another tooth-grinding wheel question

I'm looking at a set of 16.5" x 9.75" wheels for my j10. I want to run AT tread load range E tires on it, but I have no experience whatsoever with the 16.5 wheel. I am planning on hauling 2 yard loads of gravel, etc. with this truck and need a stable, stiff sided tire that can handle the duties of a 1 ton truck with only 2 rear tires.

I don't want to run tires greater than 32x12 on this truck right now. I realize that 16" tires are cheaper, but I have this set of wheels in front of me, and may not run into a set of 6 lug 16" wheels for a while. Are there any good opitions for tires inside these parameters? Thanks for your lack of condescension. Brendan

Re: Another tooth-grinding wheel question

posible sizes are 8.00x16.5, 8.75x16.5, and 9.50x16.5. If you are trying to save money try to get some used. many people are parting with 16.5 tires due to there poor bead retention. you could also save money by getting bias plys. they should work fine provided you are not taking any long highway runs with a full load.
