Dang, I wouldnt think that blower HP would be that helpfull in rock crawling. The 4.0 already has pretty good power. But there are a few other mods that can be done to it other than stroking it, such as roller rockers, and headers.
I used to run a Kenne Bell Supercharger on my 460 when I was mud bogg racing it. It didnt really start to build any benneficial HP or torque from the huffer, until about 2000 rpm., and it would lag, pretty baddly when shutting down and gassed hard, when the revs dropped below 2000.
I also used to wheel with an FJ in Reno with a 383 blown/stroked Chevy, and that thing struggled constantly, to maintaine smooth power at low RPMs.
Hmmmm, I guess its all in how well its set up. Live and learn.
