I probably know the answer

Will a Lockrite locker from a 1986 44 rear axle work on a Wagoneer 44 front axle? I think it should, but just double checking.

Yes, if they both have the same spline axles. BUT, that I am not sure about. I thought the fronts had 27 splines while the rears had 30. Maybe someone else can say for sure.......

Yeah, Mel it will fit. A 44 is a 44, unless it is a reverse rotation, in which case the Ring and Pinion are different. There is a carrier break on the D44, but that wouldnt affect your lockright application.

Re: I probably know the answer

Is it the GW axle with the front disconnect system? If so you might have a problem. I have heard of the diconnect system that is intergrated into the diff housing making locker installs impossible.

But there has to be a way around it as well. Here is what I am thinking...weld the front disconnect together and put some hubs inplace of the slugs. Regular axle then, unless that disconnect system is more troublesome and intrusive than I think.

Like they mentioned before, it will fit. I scored a mini-spool for the Scout rear cheap, came from the front of a Chevy truck. As long as they're after 1970, they have 30 splines and 1.31" in diameter.
