Where to buy sawzall?

Is a sawzall a name brand, or is it a type of tool that all of the major brands make? what is a good price to pay for one, and where are they sold at? thanks again for all of the advice on here!! Ben

Re: Where to buy sawzall?

It is a namebrand. The generic name is reciporcating saw(spelling ? - sorry CJDave). You can buy them at Home Depot, Sears, Harbor Freight, and many other places. The price depends on how good of one you want. Cheap ones are $50 - $80, where real good ones are $150. Mine is a Craftsman ($90 - $100) and works just fine for me.

SAWZALL is Milwaukee's own name for their reciprocating portable power saw. We bought a Milwaukee from Orchard Supply Hardware late last year. Our Milwaukee is the industrial model and I think it was around 150 bucks more or less. It will do some amazing things.

Re: Where to buy sawzall?

although expensive...milwaukee also has a cordless saw-zall that is amazing! a friend bought a set-up that came with a cordless saw-zall, drill, angle grinder, flashlight, and a batery for each one. i think it was about $60o and worth it! very handy for doing exhaust work! milwaukee tools are excellent! i have a craftsman recip-saw and it has treated me well. when it dies, i'll get a milwaukee. matt

I have cut a lot of stuff with my Milwaukee. If it ever wears out it gets replaced with another Mil or a Porter-Cable.

Re: Where to buy sawzall?

Sawzall is the Milwaukee version of the reciprocating saw. I have a craftsman that works pretty well, but I like my bro's Sawzall a little better.

Re: Where to buy sawzall?

I picked up my Milwaukee Super Sawzall (the big boy of sawzalls) for $55 at a pawn shop. That's where I get all of my power tools.

Re: Where to buy sawzall?

I got mine at Lowes, I think...it's been a while. It's a Dewalt....cost a little over $100. Worth every penny. I love a sawzall!
