Flowmasters on a 4 cylinder?

Im thinking about adding a set of Flowmasters to my 98 TJ 4 cylinder to add about 10 more hp plus make it sound more "meaner". Would this make it sound like a POS or actually help it to give it more of a boost.

pos. Don't do it. It won't give you 10hp either.

Re: Flowmasters on a 4 cylinder?

I put a used (FREE) Flowmaster on my 91 YJ W/2.5 and it sounds pretty cool( My Dad said thats the way a Jeep should sound), After 40k+ miles I haven't noticed any power gains or loses.
Just my $0.02

Re: Flowmasters on a 4 cylinder?

I know its not the same but when I busted my muffler I ran straight exhaust for a while. It sounded like a P.O.S. rice burner. Needless to say I quickley installed a new muffler. This was on my 91' 2.5L YJ.

Re: Flowmasters on a 4 cylinder?

I'm running a 4 cyl although it is an older iron duke motor. It is .030 over, camed, head worked on, and a 390 4 barrel with header and flowmaster. It sounds pretty cool, kinda like a p-o'd bumble bee.
