Starter and Solenoid went POOF!! (question)

so my went to start my jeep and it kinda goes "ka-chunk" and nothing happens.

open the hood and smoke is coming from the i swap it with a new big deal.

but now when i go to start it nothing happens..... is it possible to fry the starter like that? it was working fine a half hour before then

[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif[/img] It COULD be that your starter drive gear landed exactly in between where it is supposed to be and has locked up. Put the Jeep in high gear, leave the ignition off, and rock it fore and aft to pop it loose.[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif[/img] If that doesn't work, loosen the starter-to-bellhousing bolts a little and jiggle the starter.[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/tongue.gif[/img]
