What kind of lift kit to purchase?

I currently have a 5 speed manual, 2.5 liter, 4 cylinder 98 Wrangler all stock and am looking to put a lift kit on it to clear more obstacles plus be able to put some bigger tires on it. I noticed body lift kits are much cheaper than suspension kits but whats the main difference? I'm more concerned about quality than price.

body just lifts the body, suspension lifts the frame and everything... If your going for quality, look for a good suspension lift. How much lift do you want, and what size tires are you looking for?
Elusive put a Rubicon 4.5 lift on their TJ, and his jeepchick loves it (its hers). Other than that, I don't know.
Skyjacker makes a really wild lift 6"-8" for extreme people!

Re: What kind of lift kit to purchase?

I went with 3" RE super-flex kit.Real nice setup. It came with coils, shocks, lower arms, brake lines, disconnects and transfer case lower kit.It still rides good.It raised it about 3.5" in back and 4" in front.I am getting a small amount of driveshaft vibration. If you go with a 4" lift you might have to put on a SYE to stop the vibration.

Re: What kind of lift kit to purchase?

I was thinking about putting 31's or 33's on. I also was looking at about a 2-4 inch lift.

You should be able to fit 31s at stock hight.I had no rubbing at all.If you go with a 3.5" or higher lift you will need a SYE.My lift in the back after settling is 3.75",If it settles a 1/4 of a inch i won`t have any vibration.SYE cost lots of $$ and will void warranty.
