O/T How do you remove the evaporator core in s-10

Sorry for being off topic, but my Mom's boyfriend wanted me to find this out. How do you remove the evaporator core in a mid 90's s-10 4 cylinder? He is mechanically inclined and this has him stumped, which I kind of find amusing! Thanks for the help. - Casey

First, throw away the service manual. There's no way it'll come out the way they say unless you remove the engine first
Remove the pasenger side tire (yes, that's right, the TIRE), take out the inner fender. Unbolt the evap/blower housing from the firewall (there are two bolts between the blower and fender that you'll need a flex extension to get to. This entire plastic housing should drop down through the fender well. Once it's out, you can separate the two halves and the evap core should come out.
Be carefull hooking the lines back up when you get it in and make sure you use a backup wrench. It's really easy to crack that tubing.
To make things even more fun, that's one of those mixed up trucks where half the bolts are standard and half are metric.
Hope this helps.
