Been having fits with my clutch linkage.(bellcrank style) But what about a cable operated linkage? Has anybody ever tried it? ken

Re: clutch linkage

Jeep tried it in 1972 and it was an experiment gone bad. There is so much tension that it caused the firewall to crack where the cable went through it. I'm sure there are other ways to make it work though.

Re: clutch linkage

I think the brackets would be easy to build, just finding the right cable that would be long enough.

Re: clutch linkage

Ken, I originally had a cable clutch linkage on my old 70 CJ5. Biggest P.O.S. there ever was. I replaced it with the chain linkage from
Advance Adaptors at the first opportunity.

Re: clutch linkage

A bellcrank style linkage if the parts aren't worn is very dependable. I personally don't see the need to switch, even to a hydraulic
system.
