CJ-2A ????

I found an old jeep today. Looking at the "Jeep owner bible(JOB)" I'm pretty sure that it's a cj-2a. it is pretty rusty and the inside is pretty messed up but it appears to be close to complete. it has a metal hard top. I looks like it might have been set up as a farm jeep because is has what looks like a weight up front(like the one in Fig.1-11 pg.7 in "JOB"). It also has the PTO on the back and some sort of plow hook-up/linkage on the rear. Does this sound like anything special? what do you think something like this might be worth?
Thanks for any help

P.S. I'll try to get some pic's later

Re: CJ-2A ????

Well Maxx, In my JOB on p. 7 in fig. 1-11 there is a pic of a CJ-3A.
Does the jeep have a one or two piece windshield?
One piece = CJ-3A
Two piece = CJ-2A
Also, the CJ-3A has a spicer 44 rear axle, so you might look at the axle to see what it is.

If you look on p. 6 at fig. 1-9 you will see some things on the driver's side of the jeep body.
I think these were to hold an implement or some farm equipment.
This is a CJ-2A, and you will notice the CJ-3A does not have these two brackets on the side of it.
Hope this helps you out.
Oh, and about the pricing, let me look and I will get back to you on that.

Re: CJ-2A ????

Ok, here is what I found out.
For either the 2A or 3A in the condition you described it I think it should be worth between $1,000 and $1,500.
The lowest price http://www.nada.com gave me was $2,500, but that was with a body that shows normal wear, but nothing about rust.
I could be wrong and the value could be more than I told you, but with the rusty body you have to be careful.
Take care and have a good day.
By the way, here is a pic of my CJ-2A for reference.
You can see one of the brackets on the side and you can also see the two piece windshield.

Re: CJ-2A ????

it has the two piece window. the picture that I was refering to was a cj-3 but I was talking about the weight thing on the front bumper. I did not get a good look at the drivers side to notice the brackets but next time I'm out there I will take a look. this one has a steel top on it. Does anyone know if this was an option on the 2a's or would this be a homemade job? thanks for the info
BTW redbeard, nice looking rig. I wish the one I'm looking at looked that good!!
