Does this work?

Leaving work last night, and one of the bartenders from downstairs pulls up in a very cool rig.

So I go over we start chatting. Basically he's restored a 79 CJ from the groud up. Frame is a 79, front end 79, tub is a 92 YJ. He's installed new locking hubs on the front, lined the entire tub. Very nice looking rig.

But what confused me - He's running 33's and he says he has no lift. Now both he and I realized that if he didn't anything beyond a gravel road, he would some serious rubbing, but I didn't think you could get 33's under anything (even on the street) without some sort of lift.

The beer I had for breakfast wasn't bad, so I had one more for dessert.

Re: Does this work?

You can stuff 33s under CJ or TJ, it will rub even going over speedbumps, but you will be able to drive it. stock YJ probably max out at 31.

Re: Does this work?

I stuffed 33's under my 63 CJ without a lift. I had like 3 inches from the fenders. it worked for me, it did rub, but i got my lift and everything is better. What did hurt with the rubbing, was my front fenders got dented pretty nicely from the tires.
