2000 TJ aftermarket air install help

When I opened the air plenum to install the evaporator coil on my 2000 TJ, a molded plastic flap about 3"x6" fell out from somewhere around the vertical air door. This part does not show on the service parts diagram. The dealer was no help. His Jeep air conditioning mechanic had one of these flaps in his tool box from a previous install because he had the same problem and couldn't figure it out. I got everything installed and the air works, but the more critical members of the family think there is substantially more cockpit air noise above 50 mph. Anyone else run into this part? What is it and where does it go? Does it affect the flow of air in the system? Does it cause the noise problem? Can anyone provide a diagram or picture showing the exact location of this part inside the air plenum? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's a pic from my service manual. It sounds like it might be #2. Hope this helps.
