OT-statics question

A friend is building a bridge for his snowmobile club and wants to know how much weight a 8" i-beam 3/8 thk can support in addition to its own weight. The beam is 35 foot long and he will use two of them. If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it. If you need more info to answer this, let me know.

Re: OT-statics question

Is it a W8x something, an M8x6.5, an S8x something, an HP8x36 or something else?

Re: OT-statics question

Just do what they do around here.

(If you can afford it.)

Go to the local train yard, and ask where all their flatbeds go when they retire them. Then go there, buy one off them cheapy-cheapy, cut the wheels and bottom crap off it, then get it taken to where you want it. Crane, drop, secure on concrete blocks.

Voila, bridge.

Do you think insurance will cover the carb if it some how "teleports" behind the tires of a 350 with dualies?

Re: OT-statics question

I haven't seen it, but I assume it's a W8x.
