Just found out I\'m quite retarded, have Q

Well, I got a punch today for taking the races out of my hubs. Well, I started on one, and it came out fine. I then flipped it over to start on the second one. Well, it wouldn't move. I then realized I was the part of the hub that the other race sits up against. I then proceeded to get the REAL race out. So do you think I did any damage? It's dented up a bit, but still pretty flush for the race to sit against. Thanks!

Can you get in to where the damage is with a file or emery cloth? Either option will can clean up little burrs and that sort of thing.

I can probably get a file or emery cloth in there. But it won't be quite flush in places. Will this matter since the back of the race sits against it?

The race MUST sit flush with the support. If you have any high spots you need to take them down flush with the rest of the backing peice. With the race not sitting flush this will cause the bearing to not sit in the proper location in the hub,,,, maybe this is bad or maybe not, depending on how it all fits up... NAAAA get it right. Take a file or dremal tool or emmory paper and get it back flush.

Two things will happen if it doesn't sit flush; 1. the race won't run true once a load is applied and 2. the race can't dissapate heat properly if it doesn't fit snugly and have full consistent contact (hot spots) In any case accelerated wear is usu. the result.

Just take it to a machine shop, and have them clean up the inside, it wouldn't hurt anyway. just bring them the races and seal, and they will hone out ony burrs. I had it done for 20$

Just use a dremel tool with a wire brush or something not too agressive and buff it out (or air grinder with appropriate tip).
