Nutter bypass with a twist

I'm in the process of rebuilding my BBD (don't ask why, I've never done a BBD before and I'm a glutton for punishment) and was thinking of sh!t-canning the whole stepper motor assembly and replacing it with a block off plate to close up the carb. Good idea? Bad idea?

I bring this up because it doesn't seem like the pins can get pushed back into the stepper motor. (Something is FUBAR'd in there). I figured I'd do away with the whole stepper motor mess and replace it with the simple block off plate. Whadaya think?

Re: Nutter bypass with a twist

You want the pins all the way out of the stepper motor to block the passage in the carb. The pins all the way in the stepper motor would cause the carb to run lean all the time.

5.0s and 4 speed = lots of broken parts!!!

Re: Nutter bypass with a twist

Whoa! Thanks. I would have made a big mistake there. Thanks for straightening that out for me. Looks like I'll be keeping the stepper and the metering pins around.
