TJ won\'t shift into 4wd

Ok, I know I'm gonna catch hell for this....please be gentle...

I put on my Teraflex 3" lift this weekend and I decided to do the transfer case drop (I know, I know, I don't normally like to do that) but its my daily driver and I didn't want the vibrations (even thogh I still have some, but thats another story and issue) to wear away at my drive train (I'll put on a SYE later when I can afford it).

Anyway, after I did the drop, I started testing everything, and found out my transfer case won't shift into 4wd (obviously a linkage problem), question is: Is there a proper fix to this, a kit, or something that fixes it without bending the linkage or whatever. I know theres probably a thread already, but I did a search and didn't know what phrasing to use. Thanks for the help....

Re: TJ won\'t shift into 4wd

How far did the t-case get dropped?
Is it posible that the shifter is hitting the floor pan and being stopped, or is the linkage now hitting something?

Re: TJ won\'t shift into 4wd

It may be hitting the floor pan, I haven't really taken the time to look at that yet, the linkage doesn't really look to be bound, I looked at it again tonight real briefly before I had to go to a Lions Club meeting, just been busy and haven't had the time to really look into it, too bad weekends are only two days long.

I've been trying to convince my boss into making them 3 days long, but he won't go for that . I'll try to find time to look at it better tomorrow, I also called Teraflex and they said the drop shouldn't have caused that problem. The drop is about 2" (I really don't like transfer drops ), I just ordered the rear adjustable lower arms for the Jeep and that should allow me to adjust the pinion angle up somewhat to kill the vibration I have (at least according to Teraflex), I'm hoping that I will get lucky and that I will be able to adjust it enough to kill the current vibration and maybe do away with the TC drop.

Does anyone have the Teraflex adjustable lower arms, or know how much they allow you to adjust the rear pinion angle??

Check the sometimes overlooked things too, like the engine and tranny mounts. If they are hosed, no amount of drop or adjustments will make the vibes go away. Easy to check and replace if needed, and could save you a lot of troubleshooting time.

Re: TJ won\'t shift into 4wd

Did you try to just adjust it. when you dropped the transfer the linkage stayed on the body and the adjuster will not throw the arm on the tcase as far.
