3/4ton Jeep

I have seen alot of pics of Jeeps that are supposedly 3/4ton CJ5'so 7's. Is this right? What would be involved in making a CJ7 a 3/4 ton?

[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif[/img] It's really simple. First you get a hold of a 3/4T pickup, preferrably an early GM so you have the passenger side drop transfer case. Then you park it next to your CJ. Then you lift the pickup off of it's axles. Then you discard the CJ axles and install the 3/4T stuff on the CJ. 3/4T usually means a full floater rear axle, and 8-hole wheels all around. Plus maybe an NP205 transfer case and a big four speed ahead of that.[img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/crazy.gif[/img]

saying my jeep is a 3/4ton is kind of stretching it.
it does have 3/4ton axles and brakes but not steering/frame or suspension. i probably have a payload of about 1/8ton [img]/wwwthreads_images/icons/smile.gif[/img]

most folks swap 3/4ton axles, trannys and t-cases but not springs (don't want the stiff leaf springs that are required for 3/4 or 1 ton payload)

i have the V-8, the 1 ton tranny, and 1 ton axles, but not springs, x-fer case or gvwr. but i would say that the jeep is at least as tough as my 3/4 pick up..there is absolutelt no end to what you can do to a jeep.. it is a fantasic platform to build anything you want due to it's full frame and short wheel base..any swap is possible and most have been done by someone on this borad
