165 AMP alternator! w/ pics

I found it at the yard yesterday. I asked them how much$$ and they said it is a custom alternator out of a nursing home diesel transport van thing and that I could just take it since they haven't had any requests for another one. Now, the question is can I use this thing on my sbc? Any tricks to hooking it up, looks like there is are , - , and Acc leads. Guess I just hook it up like that huh, what would I want to run directly to the acc leads?

Just one suggestion before you go to too much bother... take it to an autoparts store and have them put it on a tester (Growler). Have it tested at various RPM's and see what it'll do.

If it's set for any length of time it may have bad bearings, dried bushings, mouse nests in the windings, etc. Better to know know before you fab brackets and start wiring only to find it may not work.
